Anniversary Gala Celebration Information
9:30a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Worship service prelude presented by musicians representing various segments of the music program over our 50 years – choirs, evening services, scholarship program – and a vocalist representing the future of Westminster’s music. Accompanying the hymns will be many representatives of our instrumental groups. A bagpiper will also be part of this time of celebration.
10:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.
A combined worship service with a special anniversary message by Dr. Michael A. Rogers. For the first time since 1982, the entire Westminster congregation will worship together during the same service, at the same time, under one roof. The service will feature the premiere of Complete In Christ, a choral anthem written by Dr. Stuart Sacks and commissioned by Westminster Presbyterian Church on the occasion of its 50th Anniversary.
Childcare is available for children ages 3 and under during the morning prelude and service. Explorers Church will also be available.
3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Westminster’s 50th Anniversary Celebration Gala
The celebration gala is a casual, family-friendly event featuring food, fellowship, trivia, nostalgia, and celebrating God’s faithfulness over the last five decades. Come when you can and stay as long as you like!
Catered by Hess’s BBQ, the event will feature five food and display “stations” throughout the building—representing the five decades of the church. Along with food at each location, each station will feature photographs and memorabilia respective of that decade. In addition, each station will be hosted by a former member of the Westminster pastoral staff: Rev. Robert E. (Bob) Bell, Rev. Keith A. Peck, Rev. Stephen R. (Steve) Wilson, Rev. E. Scott Johnston, and Rev. Troy A. DeBruin. As part of the celebration gala, Westminster congregation will unveil its Heritage Wall, featuring key items and photographs that tell the story of our church.
Each family who registers for the celebration gala will also receive a limited-edition copy of Soli Deo Gloria: The Story of a Good Work, a new, 32-page pictorial history about Westminster Presbyterian Church. (This booklet is exclusive to gala registration.)
Gala Celebration Registration is just $10 a person or $30 maximum each family and includes:
· Admission to the gala
· Catered food
· Fellowship, displays, trivia, and activities
· An exclusive copy of Soli Deo Gloria: The Story of a Good Work
6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
The day of celebration will wrap up with a Time of Thanksgiving in the sanctuary, featuring Mrs. Beulah P. Williamson, widow of former senior pastor Robert Samuel (Bob) Williamson, who will bring special greetings. She’ll be joined by several other special guests as each person brings a brief testimony and offers thanks to God for His work and ministry at Westminster Church. The Time of Thanksgiving will conclude with the premiere of A Good Work Continued, a 10-minute video looking to the future of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
