Local Outreach

Refugee Ministry

The refugee ministry supports families as they transition from life in refugee camps around the globe to life in Lancaster. We assist with transportation to appointments, basic housing repairs, medical issues, and enrollment of children in schools. We offer financial advice and English tutoring. We also hold an ESL Sunday School class that introduces the Bible passage and sermon content for each week's worship service. Contact Jim O'Connor for more information.

In response to the call of Matthew 25:40 – "unto the least of these my brothers," Westminster is involved in a variety of local outreach ministries. Many of these ministries provide opportunities to serve right here in our church as well as in the Lancaster County community. Volunteer opportunities range from weekly to “serve when you can,” with all skill levels and abilities welcomed. Outreach contacts are listed below; please feel free to talk with them directly about questions or your interest in serving.

English for the World (ESL) Ministry

Free classes are currently being taught every Tuesday night at Westminster. Workbooks for your class level can be purchased at the welcome desk on the first night you come. Cost is $25.  Contact Dan & Rachel Bleecker for more information at eslwestpca@gmail.com.

Mission/Vision Statement
English for the World Ministry exists to glorify God by offering to the nations represented in Lancaster County free classes for learning English as a Second Language and opening a door for them to hear the good news of Jesus Christ from the Westminster PCA community.

We welcome any Westminster volunteers interested in teaching, assisting classes, interviewing new students, greeting people at the door, organizing snacks for break time, and not least, volunteers committed to praying for this ministry.

Sanctity of Life Ministry

The Sanctity of Life Ministry proclaims and supports the sanctity and dignity of all human life from conception to its natural end by working to bring an end to abortion, by extending Christian love and compassion to those wounded by abortion, and by protecting the weak and vulnerable during all phases of life. We do this through the development, facilitation, and support of positive ministries that:

  • Increase awareness and enhance respect for life.

  • Reach out to mothers and fathers considering abortion and provide evangelism, Christian nurturing, Christian counseling, make provision for the financial and material needs of the mother and her baby, aid with obtaining medical service, aid with adoption when indicated, and Christian homes for pregnant women in need of a place to live away from immediate family when indicated.

  • Provide post-abortive Christian counseling and programs for healing.

  • Support the importance of Christian sexual integrity, marriage, and the family.

  • Enhance the sanctity and dignity of all human life.

Contact Bob Dunn at 717-396-3838 or via e-mail by clicking here if you would like to get involved, learn more, or make a suggestion regarding this ministry.

If you missed the film "One Survivor Remembers" that was shown on Wednesday, April 11th to commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Day, you can still view here. This 40 minute Academy Award winning short documentary film tells the story of Jewish Holocaust survivor, Gerda Weissman Klein, who was 15 years old when WWII began and who spent nearly six years in concentration camps as a slave laborer.  To view the film, click on the button below.
