Ways to Serve Refugees

Rides for Refugee Families: Volunteers are needed to help with refugee transport to worship service and Sunday school on Sundays, Tuesday nights for ESL class and Wednesday Night Fellowship, as well as other needs among our multi-cultural neighbors.

Adopt-a-Family: Adopting a family is a one-year commitment to do one activity per month with a refugee family, like celebrating a birthday, having a Fourth of July cookout, playing board games or going to a park. Our refugee families are so eager to have American friends.

Sunday Morning ESL & Literacy Classes: During Sunday School, we hold ESL Sunday School classes as well as literacy classes for middle school, high school and some adults. Contact Jim O’Connor to see how you can be a part of this ministry.

Gift Cards: With many newly arrived families, we have a significant need for gift cards from Walmart and Target.  We use these to buy essentials that families do not receive from the resettlement agencies. The gift cards can be left in the church office.

Back-To-School Shopping: Visit the display board in the Gathering Space on Sunday, August 4 and choose a specific child's name for whom to purchase uniform clothing needs. You can also donate a variety of school supply items. Drop off items outside the Reformation Room on Sunday mornings by August 18.

Contact Jim O’Connor or Tucker York with questions or to get more details about how you can get involved in this ministry.
